There are yummy food over there. French Bakery, Pankakes, Omelettes, Corn on the cobs, Tamales, Crapes....
I should have taken pictures of all food!!!
Today we had The Victorian Omelettes. You can choose ingredients - tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms, onions, corns, bacons, cheese... The omelette is big! and fried potates come with it. So we shared one :) We ordered it around 11am and after that I saw people waiting in a long line!

Best time to go is.... before 11am.

Banning House Lodge - Two Harbors

Jerry and I met at Two Harbors 1 year ago, and we were celebrating 1 year anniversary at the same Island. We were not planning to stay over night here but Banning House Lodge had one room available for a night!

The Banning House Lodge was built in 1910 as the summer home for the pioneering Banning brothers, who owned Santa Catalina Island. Now a charming, Craftsman -style bed and breakfast, the Banning House Lodge offers sweeping views of the Isthmus of Catalina and Catalina Harbor from its romantic, hilltop perch above Two Harbors.

There is nice patio area and a fireplace launge.

There is complimentary breakfast - muffins, bagels, cereals, fruits, yogurt, coffee, orange juice...
It's good to know that there is also special breakfast to order. 2 kinds of quiche.

SHINSENGUMI Yakitori

新撰組 焼き鳥
My friend used to take me and my new friend took me here recently.
I LOVE how they welcome customers! (not like Wabi Sabi...).
You will definitely get an excellent service and attention.
Go and get that experience!
Food is excellent too!
Get a different style of miso soup! (Tonjiru-miso soup with pork and lots of vegetables.)

Wabi Sabi

Japanese Sushi Restaurant in Venice.
I was very disappointed at Wabi Sabi.
Do you remember when you step inside of the Japanese Restaurants, you hear "Irasshaimase~!". Sushi chefs yell at you!! Why do they say? They are welcoming you to the restaurant.
This Wabi Sabi, they don't welcome you...
They say...nada...I thought Sushi Chefs are Korean or Chinese...but they were Japanese.
Sushi quality was good but the service was terrible.
Overall, No DIG!

BERRI'S CAFE

I think I found Great Food place tonight!
Berri's Pizza Cafe founded in 1996. There are 2 locations. One is in Los Angeles and the other is in Playa Del Rey. Los Angeles location is open until 4:00 am! Yes, until 4 AM! Even open daily. It sounds like a late night fun hang out place....?

I've ordered Lobster Pizza and Chopped Salad for togo before. Pizza sauce for Lobster was so good! Salad and bread came with the order was excellent!!!! I really DIG IT!
Tonight my good friend neighbor John and I went to the restaurant in Playa Del Rey. I heard the service over there was not good. But the service was ok. FOOD was excellent!!! (^o^)p

I ordered Today's Special : Ahi Tuna with BBQ pineapple and mashed potatoes. Ahi Tuna was big and the pineapple sauce was great. I had some Veal and it was good as well. The most important part was "Dessert". Lots of dessert selections! I had to try Tiramisu here since I love Tiramisu. It was excellent!!!!! I really DIG IT!!!!!!!!
Thanks John!!!

Wirin Thai Restaurant

I had a dinner with my manager Charles at the little Thai Restaurant in Venice.
Charles says this is the best Thai food around this area. I trust him because he knows the real Thai food!

When you order Egg Rolls, you get 7 rolls... we ate 3 rolls already in the picture.... -_-;
Crispy Calamari was too oily for me. I like Noodles! Rad Na and Pad Thai are my favorite. Rad Na was good! Pineapple Fried Rice was good as well. It was curry flavor to it.

Chef Izumi's Udon - special edition

10/16/05 Lunch - Chef Izumi decided to cook Chicken Udon for lunch at yydream cafe. Sounds good ^_^ and Naoju prepared Kung Pao Chicken Friend Rice (yeah....left over from Cheng Du). Udon came out so good and so does Fried rice! ひよこ (Hiyoko-Japanese sweets) was for desert. I was stuffed again :)

Cheng Du

10/15/05 Dinner
It's great! When my client comes in town, we almost eat out! \(^o^)/ On the other hand, I was too busy to update my BLOG.
Ok, we were trying to go to MIZU (Shabu Shabu) restaurant for dinner but it was 15~20 minutes wait :(
We were too hungry to wait so Naoju (my client / friend) suggested the Chinese restaurant where he used to go for lunch.

This restaurant was called "Chang King" before. Naoju ordered spring rolls, chinese chicken salad, soup, shrimp chow men, kung pao chicken, friend rice and vegetable dish...ah...we are only 3 people...who is going to eat all that....
This restaurant was nothing special...I like Japanese food much better than Chinese. Chinese food is too oily and greasy. I gained 3 pounds easily eating Chinese food.... >_<

THE SHACK

10/15/05 Lunch Time!! My client (Naoju) came from Japan. 99% of the time, we go THE SHACK when Naoju comes in town. It's a very popular burger restaurant in Playa Del Rey.

This is the most popular "The Shack Burger". Ground Chuck topped with grilled Louisiana Hot Link or Portuguese sausage with choice of American, Swiss, Cheddar, Pepper Jack or Bleu Cheese Crumbles. ($6.00)

I ususally have a "Tuna Melt Sandwich, but today I got a "Turkey Melt Sandwich" instead. With Sauteed mushrooms Melted Swiss cheese on Sourdough Bread with Iceberg Lettuce, Sliced Tomato and Mayo.

We had another company from Japan today, Hirotaka (Pianist). His choice was "North Shore Chicken. Grilled Chicken breast topped with Sauteed Mushrooms and Melted Cheddar Cheese.

I don't remember what Naoju ordered... it didn't look any special burgar or sandwich, so I didn't take any pic of his food, but we also ordered one basket of Onion Rings on the side :)

Overall, It's ok. I guess it's a casual neighbor hangout.
